The land of mythology, epics, folklore and Storytelling in India, is not new but its in our DNA. Countless authors and their works in Indian rich literature, theatre, arts and culture show how intricately storytelling is a part of our life. Ever since, we grew up at home, the daily dose of grandma stories or grandpa stories, with the storytelling opening liners, ‘Once there was a king…’ echoes in our mind still today. It is evident stories impact us mentally and it leaves an impression in the mind. The art of storytelling is, in fact, the most powerful tool that humans possess in this civilisation. While teachers describe textual content, the theatre artists create a story though gestures in a plot, a businessman tells a story to procure loan from a bank. The power and impact about the positive effects of storytelling uses some structural components of storytelling. The magic of science behind the storytelling In India depends on the below three elements of storytelling -

First, tell those stories which make your audience excited

Yes, we as human beings in this civilisation are programmed to listen to stories. Therefore, in societal context, whenever we share stories, the listeners want to hear about the information it contains. Typically, the history of the civilisation shows that people tell stories to portray problems faced and sought answers from audience. However, stories are powerful medium of communication. There are different types of storytelling that increase the levels of dopamine. In more exciting stories, it impacts the level of adrenaline rush. Therefore, just by telling a story, what your audience is experiencing, adds focus and attention to it. Storytelling in India for all age, has been the mode of societal communication for centuries. The stories however impact well, as they serve to increase the levels of memory and motivation.

Emotive stories touch brings people together

Emotion plays a big role in pulling strings of the heart, yes emotive stories create impact. Yes, frankly you can move your audience to tears, through storytelling. This requires expert skill as you play with those vulnerable dimensions of the plot, sharing emotionally, transferring the ethos or pathos of the stories. The impact on your audience leads the audience to feel genuineness, generate trust, empathy, or even generosity. Thus, storytelling in India using characters has helped Indian civilisation to understand the epics Ramayana and Mahabharata.

Lastly, the laugh is the medicine

Yes, telling a story is not complete if you are not happy or make your audience laugh. It is obvious we crack jokes, or use story liners which are hilarious, funny stories that make your friends laugh, this is rare and which is why you are popular in your friend circle. You have a rare skill to make people laugh impromptu, through your storytelling skills. However, it requires art of storytelling and storytelling science to craft a story. Funny stories make everyone laugh that increases the endorphin hormone in the body and the increased levels help in nurturing creativity, focus, and relaxation in students.

There is also another type which is functional storytelling. This prototype of storytelling builds trust between the storyteller and storylistners. In long run, it helps to build and encourages relationships. From mental point of view, listening to a story improves memory and recall factor rather than watching television. Stories relax and helps student to focus their attention.

In order to make sure that your school stories are effective as a teacher, you need to introduce background context of taught classroom text, and three elements of storytelling for the school students. However, a good teacher, will always use stories that educate, stories that inspire, and stories that entertain. The psychology of storytelling and its scientific impact on the human mind is age old process. Therefore, even today when we have tablets and smartphones, the human storytelling is an extremely powerful medium of communication. Schoolteachers need to recognise the usefulness of school storytelling as a useful tool in school branding as storytelling In India is now evolving. The impact of the school storytelling process can bring school students together inculcating to broaden their vision. Storytelling as a course in school curriculum should in a part of the school marketing for attracting new admissions, school teaching and storytelling, brand communication for branding schools for building better school students in India. No doubt, the magic of science behind the storytelling In India has evolved now. Now during COVID19 pandemic, the act of storytelling in NewDelhi schools, storytelling in Gurugram schools, storytelling in Ghaziabad schools, storytelling in Noida schools, storytelling in GreaterNoida schools, storytelling in Faridabad schools, storytelling in Delhi schools is a rage during summer holidays in schools.
